Castro Theater
The Castro Theater is a landmark location in the heart of the Castro. It’s iconic sign is commonly used in most pictures when its mentioned. This is a great theater that commonly shows independent gay and straight films. This theater often shows new top rated films as well, when they are popular within the gay community. This theater is also home to many award shows such as Frameline.
If you plan on seeing a film at this theater and its either new or a limited engagement, its critical to buy tickets in advance. I often see lines down the street just to buy tickets in advance for a movie as early as a week or a month away. Even older films that are just being re-shown as a one off.
